Third grade students conducted animal research in the LMC and then synthesized findings into a narrative paragraph about their animal. Students returned to the LMC to locate Creative Commons licensed images of their animals so they could bring them to life using Blabberize. Blabberize is a free Web 2.0 tool that allows users to upload images and then animate the mouth of the subject and record their voice bringing the object to life.
1. Choose a topic for research from a list of questions, assigned topic or personal area of interest.
2. Utilize appropriate searching techniques to gather information from a variety of sources (e.g., books, ebooks, websites, databases, interviews, videos, images etc.)
3. Identify important information found in the sources and summarize the important findings.
4. Sort relevant information into categories about the topic.
5. Understand the importance of citing sources and using Creative Commons (CC) licensed imagery.
6. Use a variety of communication techniques, including oral, visual, written or multimedia reports, to present information gathered.
